The Balanced Supply of Housing presents a Research in Progress webinar on Indigenous Land Policy. Presentations from the Strategic Relations Director of Indigenous Housing provider, AHMA, and researchers from the University of British Columbia cover Urban Indigenous Housing and First Nations Land Development in the Greater Vancouver Area.​

Speakers Include:
Cliff Grant is the Strategic Relations Director at the Aboriginal Housing Management Association (AHMA), the first Indigenous Housing Authority in Canada. He fosters partnerships with stakeholders to advocate for healthy, safe, and affordable housing for Indigenous communities, and he’s currently working toward an EMBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership at SFU’s Beedie School of Business. 

Professor Alexandra Flynn is deeply engaged in the study of municipal law, governance, property law, and Aboriginal law, with a particular emphasis on the legal understanding and governance of cities. In addition to being a Professor at UBC’s Allard School of Law, she is also the Director of the Housing Research Collaborative, overseeing projects such as the Housing Assessment Resource Tools initiative and the Balanced Supply of Housing Node, aimed at addressing Canada’s housing crisis.  

Nathanael Lauster, an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, specializes in sociology and demography, focusing on housing, home, households, and cities. He’s known for his award-winning book, ‘The Death and Life of the Single Family House,’ and leads the Metro Vancouver Zoning Project, funded by CMHC, aiming to streamline zoning regulations for the region. 

Jennifer Nguyen is a third-year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Currently, she is doing research First Nations housing developments in the Lower Mainland, as well as equality rights under the Canadian Charter with the Honourable Lynn Smith, OC, QC. Her areas of interest include access to justice and constitutional law.
